THE FINNISH SAUNA

The sauna is a substantial part of the Finnish culture. There are 5 million inhabitants and over 2 million saunas in Finland an average of one sauna per household. For the Finnish people the sauna is a place for easing with friends and family, and a place for physical and mental relaxation. Finns think of saunas not as a luxury but as a necessity. Saunas are found on the shores of Finnish coastal line, on islands as well in numerous shores of the Finnish lakes, in private houses and flats, corporate headquarters, even at the Parliament of Finland .The Sauna is an important part of the Finnish national identity.
